Lucy Liu was born in the United States. Liu is an American singer, actress as well as a voice actress. As an intelligent and attractive actress, Lucy Liu serves as a role model for several Asian actors in Hollywood who wish to make it big. Following a string of early performances in popular shows her fame was boosted when she joined the crew of the cult comedy show Ally McBeal where she played the villainous Ling Woo. In the wake of a rapid rise in fame, the actress got roles on the big screen like Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. The actress also gave an outstanding performance as Japanese criminal lord O'Ren Ishii as part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. In the meantime her role as a leading lady in flops that were box-office hits like Rise: Blood Hunter were as well-known. In animated movies such as Kung Fu Panda, Tinker Bell as well as others, she voiced characters with prominent voices. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was an unimportant role which did not have any effect. Southland's critically-acclaimed police drama, Southland and a recurring role helped Liu re-establish as an established actor.
